First winter ascents of eight-thousaners:

 

  • February 17, 1980 Mount Everest (8,848 m) - Krzysztof Wielicki and Leszek Cichy. National expedition was led by Andrzej Zawada; first, in general, winter ascent of an eight-thousander;
  • January 12,1984 Manaslu (8,156 m) - Maciej Berbeka and Ryszard Gajewski. Lech Korniszewski was the leader of the expedition from Zakopane;
  • January 21, 1985 Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) - Andrzej Czok and Jerzy Kukuczka. The expedition of the Mountaineering Club in Gliwice was led by Adam Bilczewski;
  • February 12, 1985 Cho Oyu (8,153 m ) - Maciej Berbeka and Maciej Pawlikowski. The Polish-Canadian expedition was led by Andrzej Zawada. Three days later Zygmunt Heinrich and Jerzy Kukuczka reached the peak via the same route;
  • January 11,1986 Kangczendzonga (8,598 m) - Krzysztof Wielicki and Jerzy Kukuczka. The expedition of the Mountaineering Club in Gliwice was led by Andrzej Machnik;
  • February 3,1987 Annapurna (8,091 m) - Artur Hajzer and Jerzy Kukuczka (leader of the expedition);
  • December 31, 1988 Lhotse (8,511 m) - Krzysztof Wielicki reached the peak at New Year’s Eve night. The leader of the Polish-Belgian expedition was Andrzej Zawada;
  • January 14, 2005 Shisha Pangma (8,027 m) - Piotr Morawski and Simone Moro (Italy). Jan Szulc was the leader of the expedition;
  • February 9, 2009 Makalu (8,463 m) – Simone Moro (Italy) and Denis Urubko (Kazakhstan).
  • February 2, Gashebrum II ( 8035m) --Simone Moro ( Italy), Cory W. Richards (USA) and Denis Urubko ( Kazakhstan).
